I Spy Something beginning with...

Comment and I'll give you a letter. Then you have to list 10 things you love that begin with that letter. After, post this in your journal and give out some letters of your own.

My letter from [livejournal.com profile] bratty_jedi was G.

1. Gold.
2. Green.
3. Gambling. (To a degree;))
4. Ginger. (As in the spice and neighbour's cat).
5. Gee Gees. (Because I have to get horses into everything).
6. Galaxy.
7. Gardens.
8. Google.
9. Guillemots.
10. Gilpin Lodge Hotel.

And following on from my exciting visits to supermarkets, I popped to the newsagents this morning, and for a minute thought I'd discovered the Remus and Tonks of the West Midlands. The girl in front of me was proclaiming loudly to her mate: "I know he's dangerous, but he's so good in bed what can I do?" Turns out he'd just been done for dangerous driving for the third or fourth time (she couldn't remember), rather than a werewolf problem...

[identity profile] jdbracknell.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. Did you have to do a comedy hide-behind-a-newspaper-pretending-to-be-reading to stop her seeing you laughing?

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 01:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't tell you how fascinating I found the date on the carton of milk while craning forward to hear. Then I was dying to say to her: "Can I use that line in a fan fic?" I'm visualising Tonks to Molly, over tea and sympathy... ;)

[identity profile] kileaiya.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Hee! I'd have had a lot of trouble containing my giggles at that. :D

[identity profile] mrstater.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 01:57 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL Sounds like a spoof-fic to me... Can you imagine the hospital scene? "I've told you a million times! You're good in bed! I care!"

Will you give me a letter?

[identity profile] godricgal.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:00 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL So presumably she ought to make sure that anything he does in a car is confined to the back seat...

[identity profile] godricgal.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, and may I have a letter please?

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The strange thing was that one minute they having a conversation about hair cuts, and then she suddenly did her werewolf announcement. Don't know how wide my eyes were!

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I reckon I could write my Christmas fic round that one line, I should have kept it to myself! But it certainly would give a whole new slant on the hospital scene, although we all know that's what she means anyway, LOL.

I don't want any abuse for this as I've opened the book in front of me - which is OotP - and the word my finger has landed on is Trelawney. So you've got a T.

[identity profile] jdbracknell.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:07 pm (UTC)(link)
If he gets booked again, presumably they'll have to confine themselves to the bus....

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
So presumably she ought to make sure that anything he does in a car is confined to the back seat...

Do you think it applies to broomsticks as well? ;)

In the interests of fairness, I've also opened my copy of OotP for you, and pointed to "dreadlocks." So you've got a D.

[identity profile] kileaiya.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
What a topic jump!

[identity profile] jdbracknell.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Molly's eyes would widen for a moment, and then she'd say 'Really? Well it is always te quiet ones. Digestive?'

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Or: "Well, I always feel like that about Arthur, dear, when he's messing around with his pruning shears. Jam tart?"

[identity profile] bratty-jedi.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:30 pm (UTC)(link)
A rejoinder like that would certainly help with Remus' "too old" excuse as well. "I can barely keep up with you now! If you were any younger, I'd have no hope."

Nice list. Anything in particular you love about galaxy or just the concept in general?

[identity profile] jdbracknell.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:31 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL. "Really, Molly?"
"Oh yes, dear. You don't make seven babies sitting around knitting."

[identity profile] mrstater.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, good letter!

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
You must have foreseen it though? ;)

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't think why JKR didn't write it like this, you know. It would have cleared so many things up...

"So Arthur only advocates pruning in the garden, then?"
"Yes, dear. And I never knit in the bedroom, either."

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
We've really got to rewrite the entire hospital scene, haven't we? There'd be no need for anyone else to chip in, Remus and Tonks could explain it all in a few, short, extremely frank sentences, LOL.

I'm quite interested in astronomy; Husband even more so. Plus there's a delicious bar of milk chocolate called Galaxy... ;)

[identity profile] godricgal.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Galaxy chocolate should be on your shopping list when you go out looking for Jaffa Cakes.

[identity profile] godricgal.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, I'm not sure I want to think about the back end of a broomstick in that situation - all those twigs...

D is for difficult, which is what I'm finding this exercise. ;)

[identity profile] bratty-jedi.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a friend from England whose father sent her a care package with some Jaffa Cakes. I'd told her about our discussion and she said she would bring some up to school for me to try but I think she forgot.

[identity profile] bratty-jedi.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why Remus was so stiff and wouldn't really look at anyone! He was waiting for Tonks to blurt out something about their sex lives. It all makes so much more sense now.

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, though it's a bit annoying when Keith gets 7/8ths of the bar. Still 1/8th is better than none. That's another hideous icon you've got there, btw... ;)

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Get on that phone and tell her off! Jaffa cakes are to die for, and would definitely have been in my ten if I'd had J.

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:35 pm (UTC)(link)
That's why Remus was so stiff and wouldn't really look at anyone!

I can't put that sentence in a child-friendly hospital fic scene. Though obviously it's a nice lead in to Tonks' arguement and the robe shaking. ;)

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Dogs, Doughnuts, Dangerous Werewolves... How can you go wrong? ;)

[identity profile] jdbracknell.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"We could do ourselves a terrible mischeif on a stray needle...."

[identity profile] godricgal.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I did consider Dear Remus or Darling Remus, but thought it might be cheating a bit.;) I have now managed to find 10 things, and dog is one of them.

[identity profile] bratty-jedi.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
But you see, that is the beauty of double entendres. They fly right over the heads of the little ones.

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"I always wondered why you never crocheted..."
"After the incident with the hook, dear, we learnt a hard lesson."

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That's true, so I won't worry. Which leaves us with Remus standing there stiffly, and Tonks starting off with: "You see! She still wants to marry him, even though he's not as dangerous in bed as you are!"

[identity profile] bringandfly.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh dear! I think I'd have worn a smothered expression and had a massive fit of the sniggers once said gir and her mate had left!

May I have a letter, please?

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I think I was dazed from thinking that fan fic had just met RL in one sentence - but I was trying very hard not to choke. ;)

I've opened my completely unbiased copy of OotP (if I used HBP it would open at the same page each time;)), and my finger landed on Hogwarts. So I hope you like your H.

[identity profile] jdbracknell.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"How about weaving?"
"Oh no, dear, that's far too dangerous in the bedroom. Terrible incident with a stray weft thread. For a while we wondered if Arthur would be able to father children at all...."

[identity profile] bringandfly.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I do, I do... *grins*

Ta ever so. I shall run away and do it right now!

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 05:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"But obviously you've stopped worrying about that?"
"Well, I still have the occasional doubt, dear, which is why I sometimes drag him away from his model aeroplane making."

[identity profile] jdbracknell.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 05:30 pm (UTC)(link)
"The smell of the glue goes to his head and gives him some awfully funny ideas...."

[identity profile] kerrymdb.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Good choice with google. I dont' know what I would do without it. I'm sure I should know, but the brain won't function when I'm on vacation. Guillemots?

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 05:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Pop band rapidly making a name for themselves. Well recommended. ;)

I've opened OotP for you and the finger landed on "footprints." So you've got an F.

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think I know what just you mean. Remus swears he's at his most dangerous after chocolate and I'm always buying it for him."

[identity profile] kerrymdb.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 06:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, I don't feel bad not knowing them, then. D'oh! [livejournal.com profile] godricgal beat you to the punch. I already have a letter. Thank you, though! I think I would have had an easier time with your letter...

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I've just seen your N's and there's some really good ones so I think it was meant to be. Especially as you put Neville and Nox. ;)

[identity profile] kerrymdb.livejournal.com 2006-11-20 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh. Nox turned into a discussion whether Tonks and Remus would prefer the lights on or off. The general opinion is they would prefer the lights on. ;)

[identity profile] gilpin25.livejournal.com 2006-11-21 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely on. I'm sure Remus must have had his fill of dark nights, and how would he tell if Tonks is pink or not with them off? ;)
