Fic Posting & Twilight

Just to say what you probably already know, that the awesome
mrstater, graphic manipulator extraordinaire, and myself have posted the first part of our joint letter-writing fic Between the Lines, which you can find either at her LJ, or here at mine. Yes, there's really no escape from it, however hard you try. ;)
Sign-ups are underway at
metamorfic_moon for The Beatles and The Bard Timeless Moon Ball, and it's wonderful how many of you have done so already. The two people who've got the lyrics/quotes I really hoped for will be receiving bribes in due course, lol.
And for those on my f-list who are Brits and Twilight fans, there's a two page article in today's Times newspaper supplement about the books, the film, Stephenie Meyer and some comparisons with JKR. :) I'm very taken with the fact that she works on a marble desk and thinking of changing mine to see if it speeds me up!

Date: 2008-05-13 01:09 pm (UTC)Well deserved congrats on the awards!:D I'm nearly as pleased for Remus and his love life as I am for you! ;)

Date: 2008-05-13 01:24 pm (UTC)Thanks, too. Feeling a bit weird about the whole thing (predictably), but I just had a Berocca and that's taken the edge off, lol.

Date: 2008-05-13 03:33 pm (UTC)I am very happy with my Meta prompts, thank you, and a plotbunny has already started running away with them, although it isn't going where I thought it would, heh.
I hope you won't be the one carrying that new marble desk? ;) Your back gives you a perfect excuse to have several strong young gentlemen help out, I'm sure. Or someone who can Levitate.

You're actually one of the two people who might have been getting a bribe as I really liked both yours. But it's rather more important you did and even better if you've got a bunny already! (Does it fit in one of your series, or something else, she asks nosily?;)) I'm not sure about the lyrics I've got, but my single word is "Want" and that's quite inspiring...

Definitely not! I'm not sure - I think I'd miss my old wooden one as marble doesn't say cosiness and familiarity to me? But then it might say speed and lack of procrastination. ;)

Date: 2008-05-13 05:06 pm (UTC)Oh, it's definitely there! I especially loved the sequence of Remus's petulant letter and the immediate apology -- so very him to miss the flirting entirely and give it the worst possible interpretation, and meanwhile the fact that he let himself write that terse unhappy letter at all perfectly shows the strain he's been under with the whole contact thing. But then the follow-up letter shows his usual graciousness cutting through the black mood even though he's still feeling forlorn and clearly needs a hug. (Sorry, I should have posted these remarks at your fic journal, shouldn't I!)
I really want to make the acquaintance of sticky toffee pudding now -- those photos are evil. I'll have to content myself with a piece of rapidly-going-stale cake left over from my department's graduation reception on Sunday. Can you have sticky toffee pudding at all? Or is wheat one of your nemeses?

I wondered if that was so, from the comment you made when you assigned me the prompts! ;) I hope I'll do them justice for you. At first glance they made me think of some kind of declaration-of-love scene, or maybe one of the million times, but the more I thought about "not with the eyes but with the mind," the idea of a HBP fic, with Remus off with the pack but unable to get Tonks out of his head, started hijacking the proceedings. I've been wanting to do more with the HBP part of Kaleidoscope, anyway; I've even had an OC werewolf or two living in my brain who've been hoping for a chance to make their debuts, especially since I'll need them for my AU post-war fic later on...
I do like your Beatles quote, too -- "I didn't know what I would find there" looks awfully versatile.
[Edited because I managed to be reply at the wrong level of the comment thread...]

When you come visit England again, it's a promise that I'll treat you to one. They're actually a speciality that started in the Lake District - we thought we ought to send Remus to Ambleside for his mission, where I frequently holiday, and where picturesque postcards of the Lake etc. really are available. The puddings travel from the Lake District to be sold at my local supermarket, along with the complimentary cream, sauce and a million calories to go with it all.
I can manage about a mouthful, and live to tell the tale, but they are incredibly yummy. Mr Gilpin likes them served hot with vanilla ice cream... Let me know if I'm making you hungry!

Ooh, that's sold it to me already. I was thinking the slightly predictable romantic comedy route, but that's much more interesting. :)

Date: 2008-05-13 08:46 pm (UTC)You most certainly are! Especially now that you've brought vanilla ice cream into it. ;P
(I do hope someday I'll be able to take you up on your offer of my very own piece!)

Date: 2008-05-13 05:55 pm (UTC)Yes - it seems the R/T community hasn't completely left the planet after all! ;) My bard prompt is giving me some difficulties, but I do think that I will be able to fot smile into a drawing.. I'm just about to write a comment on your wonderful story, so I'll save that one for the other journal. :D

Date: 2008-05-13 07:23 pm (UTC)I know; I thought many people may have gone on to pastures new, or we'd timed it wrong with exams, but so many have signed up and a lot of new names amongst them as well as us golden oldies. ;) So yay!
My bard prompt is giving me some difficulties, but I do think that I will be able to fit smile into a drawing..
Glad to hear it. I'm letting my imagination run riot as to what he - or she - is smiling at! I thought the Bard quotes were either excellent for inspiration, or quite tricky, but then he was like that at school when you were trying to read the damn books! Though I'm not mad about my Beatles one at the moment...
Am very glad you enjoyed the fic and thank you for such a lovely review.:D Part II is underway and Remus is looking forward to an owl from Tonks as I type. ;)

Date: 2008-05-13 08:31 pm (UTC)Well, my bard prompt is this: "That man that hath a tongue, I say is no man, If with his tongue he cannot win a woman." - it's a little hard to ilustrate flowery prose, but there are of course a lot of other things a man might do with his tongue that migth win a woman over... And make her smile? ;)
I have never been made to read the Bard, which must sound weird to any Brit, as I'm sure you get your fair share of him willing or no!

Indeed there are, and my mind is running even more amok now... ;)

You could say that, yes! Certain ones were a 'must do' at school; some I loved, some I hated. We never got to do the Beatles at school, though, at least not to study for exams!

LOL I thought that might be thought-inducing! It continually reduces me to blank staring into space...

Date: 2008-05-13 06:27 pm (UTC)Really, I feel like I'm a bad fan for not committing to it as I did before. Hopefully I'll find time to read some of billion fics that have come out since DH. XD
BTW, that was an interesting article. I read it online. It really made me think about Meyer and how she's sop religious writing a book about vampires. IDK, I'm starting to respect her more and more. :)

Oh, definitely not a bad fan - I don't think your enthusiasm can stay at the same level all the time, and other things come along as well, don't they? Then there's only so many hours in the day! I found last year quite a struggle enthusiasm-wise at times as there were a lot of death fics around, and I found it difficult to read anything like that as DH was quite enough on its own. But there's also been some great stories since then and now I seem to be enjoying enormously writing and reading about them at the moment.

I haven't read the books so all I know is the bits I've picked up from LJ and what friends have said about them. But I thought it was very interesting to read about her beliefs, her family, and how she's keeping a certain amount of control with the film etc.

Date: 2008-05-13 07:51 pm (UTC)You should read them. They aren't great in terms of grammar and structure, but its a great story. I really do love that she has been involved with the movie so much ... I wish Jo would have done that for HP. Yet again, she had books to write, so I don't blame her. XD
